Origin

Entrepreneur Jason Roberts coined the phrase in a 2010 post on his blog Codus Operandi, proposing that luck is proportional to two factors: doing (taking action on things you care about) and telling (sharing that work with others). His formula — Luck = Doing × Telling — gave geometric shape to an older intuition explored by psychologist Richard Wiseman in his studies of luck. The phrase spread widely in startup and self-improvement communities throughout the 2010s.
