Joy of Missing Out (JOMO)

Contrast with the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), JOMO is the experience of relief, delight, and lack of anxiety associated with *not* participating in every and all activities that in particular are captured and shared via social media.

Origin

Tech blogger Anil Dash coined "JOMO" in a July 2012 blog post, written after spending a month mostly offline following the birth of his son — a direct counterpoint to the "fear of missing out" his friend Caterina Fake had written about. Author Christina Crook later expanded the idea in her 2015 book The Joy of Missing Out: Finding Balance in a Wired World.
