Cunningham's Law
"The best way to get the right answer on the Internet is not to ask a question, it's to post the wrong answer." The observation that people are quicker to correct a wrong answer than to answer a question.

Origin
Attributed to Ward Cunningham, inventor of the wiki in 1995, though the maxim was actually coined by his former colleague Steven McGeady in a 2010 post, recalling a remark Cunningham made during their time together at Tektronix in the 1980s. Cunningham himself has never claimed credit and has responded with characteristic self-deprecation, noting that "the Internet is not the only place where this works."
