Origin
The exact origin of change bias as a named concept is disputed, and it does not appear under this label in canonical cognitive bias literature. Related phenomena are studied separately: the tendency to act rather than stay still is captured by action bias, while the assumption that new things are inherently better is described as pro-innovation bias, a term that grew from diffusion-of-innovations research in the 1960s. Change bias entered wider use as a practitioner shorthand for this cluster of overlapping tendencies.
