Origin
Named after Wilhelm von Bezold (1837–1907), a German physicist and meteorologist at the Technical University of Munich. In 1874, while designing patterns for textile weaving and dyeing, Bezold noticed that changing a single color in a striped composition altered the perceived appearance of all surrounding colors.
