Perpetual Expected Place Effect
The tendency to show places as a wider audience might expect to see them, skewing towards stereotype and cliché, as opposed to a more honest, modern, or nuanced showing. This is most often demonstrated in films and television.

Origin
While no single originator is credited, the idea emerged from observations in film geography and media studies about how filmmakers reproduce audience expectations rather than geographic reality. Classic examples include Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) depicting Petra, Jordan as if it were in Egypt, and Casino Royale (2006) filming in the Bahamas and Czech Republic while purporting to show Madagascar and Montenegro.
