Origin

The systematic study of fallacies originated with Aristotle's Sophistical Refutations (De Sophisticis Elenchis), an appendix to Topics in his Organon, where he identified twelve to thirteen fallacies divided into linguistic and non-linguistic types. While Aristotle established the framework for recognizing fallacious reasoning, the specific term "argument from fallacy" emerged later to describe the meta-fallacy of concluding that a conclusion is false merely because the supporting argument contains a logical error.
